Your lips are one of the most sensitive areas of your body. Even if a product works for the rest of your body, it doesn’t mean you should use it for your lips.

Thankfully, this doesn’t apply to avocado oil. Avocado oil is gentle on the skin, so it’s safe to use everywhere, even on your lips. It’s also one of the best products to use for moisturizing.

What Is Avocado Oil?

Avocado oil is a type of plant fat. Like the fruit itself, avocado oil is green in color. It also exhibits a lovely smoky flavor like that of mushrooms.

Most plant-fat oils come from extracting the seed of the fruit. Avocado oil comes from pressing the fruit itself.

First, processors will remove the skin and pit of the avocado. They then turn the flesh into a paste. The flesh consists of 30% oil, making the oil-extracting process easy. Then, they churn the paste on low heat for about an hour. To finish the process, a centrifuge separates the water from the oil.

From there, avocado oil may go through a refining process. If not, it is “unrefined” oil. Unrefined oil doesn’t look or smell as nice as refined oil. But, it contains all the nutrients that are good for our bodies.

We create refined oil by filtering unrefined oil. The goal of this is to remove all the impurities from the oil. The resulting oil is virtually odorless, colorless, and flavorless. It also loses most of its nutrients.

Avocado Oil Benefits For Lips

Avocado oil is one of the best ingredients you can use for your lips. It does amazing things for your skin, helping you to have healthier, softer lips.

Avocado Oil Makes Lips Softer

When looking for a new lip product, you probably want one that’s going to soften your lips. Softer lips look better and feel better. This is usually the #1 need of those choosing a lip product.

Avocado oil contains an ingredient called “sterolin”.

Sterolin boosts the immune system and protects the structure of your skin cells. It also prevents and treats inflammation. As a result, your skin cells stay healthier which leads to softer, more supple lips.

Avocado oil also works great as a moisturizer because it easily penetrates the skin. The oil sinks down into the layers of your skin for lasting hydration.

Even for the rest of your body, avocado oil will work best if you have dry skin. So, it only makes sense that it works exceptionally well for chapped lips.

Avocado Oil Is Healing

Rich in antioxidants and fatty acids, avocado oil is an expert in preventing skin damage. It fights free radicals — the elements that cause damaged skin — for healthier skin.

In fact, the fatty acid content of avocado oil is its most important quality. Avocados consist of about 83% fat. Some of the fatty acids include oleic, palmitic, linoleic, linolenic, and docosadienoic acid.

Antioxidants include tyrosol and hydroxytyrosol. These antioxidants come from the oil’s polyphenols, a type of micronutrient.

Avocado oil promotes collagen production. Collagen is the most abundant protein found in the skin. With more collagen, skin cells will heal faster and are less likely to become damaged. Collagen production also replaces damaged skin cells with new ones.

Avocado Oil Is Protective

Besides moisturizing and healing the skin, avocado oil protects the skin against damage. You shouldn’t use it as your sole sun protectant, but it will shield the skin somewhat against the sun’s UV rays.

Many people don’t think about protecting their lips against sun damage. Your lips can experience sun damage just like the rest of your skin.

Since your lips are more sensitive than the rest of your skin, it’s extra important to protect them.
