Looking for a natural, cheap and easy product that’s great for your skin?
Look no further! You can use pure coconut cream for skin care or mix it with other ingredients for even more benefits.
Coconut cream is an easy to make or buy product that’s made from coconuts. It’s delicious in food and can also be delicious on your skin!
Below, I go into details about what coconut cream actually is, coconut cream skin benefits and how to use coconut cream skin care as well as how to use it on your hair. I also share a coconut cream face mask.
What Is Coconut Cream?
Coconut cream exists of two ingredients – coconut and water. It is made in the same process as coconut milk.
There are several different ways you can make coconut cream. If you want to know how to make coconut cream for skin, it’s exactly the same as if you are planning to consume it.
One way is to place coconut flesh and water in a blender, blend it as much as possible and then strain the result.
You should place all the liquid in a container and let it sit. It will separate into two parts with the coconut milk on the bottom and the creamier coconut cream on the top.
So coconut cream and milk have exactly the same ingredients but the cream has a higher fat content so is thicker.
It’s simple to make but, of course, it’s even simpler to buy.
Is Coconut Cream Good For Your Skin?
Short answer: Yes, coconut cream can be beneficial for your skin. This is why…
Coconut Cream Skin Benefits
Coconut cream is full of vitamins and minerals including being an excellent source of potassium, protein and antioxidants, but what are the benefits of coconut cream on skin?
These vitamins and minerals help your skin when they are applied as well. Coconut cream is also full of lauric acid, which has antiviral and antibacterial properties, and essential amino acids, all of which are great for your skin. Add in its anti-inflammatory and anti-microbial properties and there are many coconut cream for face benefits.
This all means that coconut cream benefits for skin are that it can be anti-aging, good for calming irritated skin, tightening skin and is a great moisturizer, adding hydration to your skin.
It’s also soothing meaning it can be a good treatment for sunburn or sun damage.
These many benefits of coconut cream for skin all add up to make coconut cream a great (and easy) moisturizer for your skin.
Using Coconut Cream For Skin
Coconut cream is quite thick so it makes it easy to work with compared to coconut milk. It can stick quite well too.
You can use it by itself. Moisten your skin and then simply rub it directly into your skin especially if you want to use coconut cream for dry skin or want a coconut cream face moisturizer.
However, it can work best when used with other ingredients. I like to use the best coconut cream for face by making a face mask.
It is very similar to my coconut milk face mask here but with coconut cream instead. This can stick a little better, and it’s a little easier to work with coconut cream.
- Quarter of a ripe avocado
- 2 teaspoons of honey
- 1/8 cup of coconut cream
- Mash the avocado with a fork (or you can blend it if you like your face masks super smooth)
- Add the honey and mix in with the fork
- Add the coconut cream mixing in as you do. You are looking for a good paste consistency
To use this face mask:
- Rub it onto your face
- Leave it for 15 minutes to dry
- Rinse if off with warm water and a washcloth rubbing in a circular motion
I find the slower and more massage-like I rub my face when rinsing the mask off my face, the better my face feels afterwards. It’s super soft.
I recommend making sure all products are room temperature before making this recipe or it can be cold to put on.
Coconut Cream For Hair
You can also apply coconut cream for hair in a similar way as to your skin. Rub it into your scalp and through to the ends of your hair.
Wrap your hair in a towel and leave it for 15 minutes before washing it out with your usual shampoo and conditioner. It may take a few rinses to get it out as the coconut cream can set quickly.
Depending on how long your hair is, you’ll need half a can to a whole one.
I hope you’ve found this guide to using coconut cream for skin useful. I like the coconut cream face mask, but I would prefer to rub coconut oil directly on my skin than coconut cream as I find it easier and I get better results.
However, coconut cream does make a great hair mask and I recommend that.
