These days juicing seems to be everywhere and is synonymous with good health. In fact, it would be hard to make something quicker and healthier than a fresh juice. Some people even go so far as to go on a juicer diet.

That is why Cara and I here at Eat Quick Healthy are in love with our juicers. In fact, trying to come up with our best juicer machines’ list caused quite a few arguments among us with differing opinions about what are the best juicers to buy.

Different juicers suit different people. This is why we have done our best to include all the types of juicers as well as the top juicers on the market to help you answer what is the best juicer on the market for you!

Ultimate Guide To Buying The Best Juicer On The Market

Why should you want a juicer?

Before we talk about the top rated juicers, lets talk about why you might want to be juicing in the first place.

Juicing is basically taking all the healthy vitamins, enzymes and phytonutrients from the fruits and vegetables and leaving behind skins, fiber, pulp etc that can be hard to digest. In this way, we end up with a super healthy juice that is easy to digest. This is a quick and easy way to up our vitamin intake. For people like myself who are not a big fan of vegetables, juicing is a great way to ensure that I am meeting my healthy daily intake.

Once you have decided that juicing is for you the next question is usually about how to make your juice, and this is where it is easy to get confused. Blenders are not a good choice for making juices. Blenders basically blend everything you put inside them, meaning they do not extract the fiber, pulp, skin etc. This makes them a great choice for making smoothies, but when you want a juice, a top rated juicer is really the way to go. With a blender, you will still need to strain out all the pulp and other unwanted parts to get the benefits of juicing.

Of course, once you have worked out that you want a juicer, working out what juicer to buy is not that easy and you might be wondering how to buy a juicer. There are multiple types, different features and price tags to take into account. Even just going on to Amazon and buying the top rated juicer is not necessarily the best option as you need the juicer that works best for your requirements. That is why we have produced this ultimate guide to buying a juicer for you complete with juicer reviews.

Types of Juicers

There are three different types of juicers, each of which has its pros and cons.

Centrifugal Juicers

Centrifugal juicers work by using centrifugals forces to extract the juice from fruit and vegetables. This is basically how a washing machine works when it is in spin cycle – a strong spinning force throws everything to the edges where only the liquid can escape through small holes. Generally with a centrifugal juicer, you push the fruit and vegetables down a tube whole and it takes care of everything. These are the type owned by the majority of people. This is because they are fast, easy to clean and the top juicers extract a lot of juice. However, this speed and power does generate heat which can decrease the amount of healthy enzymes in the juice.

Pros

  • Fast – this is the best juice extractor to buy if speed is important to you
  • Easy to use
  • Easy to clean
  • The better models take whole fruit and vegetables so there is no need for any cutting.
  • Low cost

Cons

  • Often noisy
  • Can be difficult to use with some leafy greens
  • Does not work with wheatgrass and nuts
  • The heat generated affects the quality of the juice
  • Because of this the juice also stays fresh for a reduced time
  • Not as effective at extracting juice as other types.

Masticating Juicers

Masticating juicers basically work by “chewing” or squeezing fruit and vegetables between two rollers with sharp teeth as they are are placed into the machine. This squeezing and pressing extracts juice more effectively than centrifugal juicers and at a much lower temperature. They are suitable for any produce. However, they are also slower and more expensive than centrifugal juicers. Masticating juicers are also known as slow juicers or cold press juicers.

Read a guide to the best cold press juicers in Australia here.

Pros

  • These are generally the best juicers in the market for juice quality
  • High juice yield
  • Quiet
  • Produces less foam so juice oxides slower meaning this juice lasts longer
  • Can juice more fruits and vegetables than the centrifugal, as well as wheatgrass and nuts
  • Versatile  – some models can be used for other purposes such as making baby food, nut butters, fruit sorbets, etc

Cons

  • Generally more expensive than centrifugal juicers
  • Slower
  • Generally more parts to clean
  • May require prep time as often fruit and vegetables will need to be chopped up before juicing them

Triturating Juicers

Triturating juicers press fruit and vegetables through two interlocking gears producing a high pressure, squeezing force. This force does an excellent job of extracting the juice producing  not just a larger volume but releasing more vitamins, trace minerals and enzymes into the juice making this the best type of juicer overall. The gears turn at a slower speed than either of the other types of juicers which results in less oxidation and heat meaning that this juice can be stored in a refrigerator for a few days.

They are the most expensive type of juicer, but they are also the most efficient and are the best juicers on the market. They work well with all fruits and vegetables, pine needles, wheatgrass, spinach and other types of greens and herbs. They can also be used to make baby foods, nut butters and other goods. Many also have attachments to make rice cakes, bread sticks and pasta. Triturating juicers are also called twin-gear or dual-gear juicers.

Pros

  • Most efficient juicer especially good for greens, wheatgrass and other produce that is hard to juice
  • Less oxidation meaning that the juice lasts longer and the juice is the best quality
  • Can be used for other purposes

Cons

  • Most expensive type of juicer
  • More work to clean and can be tricky to reassemble
  • Can require strength to juice firmer items

Juicer Buying Guide

When selecting what juicer to buy, there are a few questions you should ask yourself to decide which juicer is best for you before you start reading best juicers reviews.

1. How often will you use your juicer?

If you are going to use your juicer often, you will appreciate something that is easy to use and easy to clean. It also becomes even more important to buy one of the best juicer brands to ensure you have something reliable.

2. What you want to juice?

When asking what’s the best juicer on the market, consider what it is that you want to juice. For example, if you want to juice leafy greens, wheatgrass, nuts or other produce, it is important to look at buying a masticating or triturating juicer. A centrifugal juicer is not as efficient or suitable for all items such as these.

3. How much time do you want to spend juicing?

If speed is important to you, then the best type of juicer may be a quick centrifugal juicer. These are generally the quickest and the easiest to clean. The next fastest and easiest is a masticating juicer. You also should check out the feeding tube size. A bigger feeding tube will mean less preparation time before juicing as you will be less likely to need to chop the ingredients first.

Another feature to consider if time is important is whether the juicer has pulp ejection. This means that the juicer ejects the pulp outside of the machine. If a juicer does not do this, then you may need to stop the juicer and remove the pulp yourself as you go when producing larger quantities of juice.

4. How important is the storage time of the juice for you?

Are you someone who like to make a fresh juice every day or would you like to juice only every few days and be able to store the juice to drink at other times? If you want to be able to store the juice, take into account that the juice from centrifugal juicers do not last long and so are not suitable for this purpose.

5. How important is the quality of the juice?

For serious juicers that want the best quality, high nutrition juice, a triturating juicer is the way to go. If you are willing to compromise a little bit on quality for price and speed, then a masticating juice is the best choice. If speed and price is of more importance to you than quality, then a centrigual juicer could be for you.

6. What is your budget?

When it comes to juicers, there is a large range of prices. At one end of the spectrum, you could pay less than $100, on the other, you could spend over $1000! How much you need to spend really depends on how much the quality of the juice matters to you and whether you want to juice things like wheatgrass. For a masticating juicer, you are realistically looking at at least $200. For triturating juicers, it is even more. If you are happy with a centrifugal juicer, there are reasonable quality ones for under $100.

When looking at whether a juicer is good value, it’s also important to consider how much juice will be yielded from the fruit and vegetables. Cheap juicers tend to do a poor job of producing a lot of juice from the produce you insert. This can end up costing you more money in the long run.

best juices with oranges

Another feature to consider when deciding which juicer is best is whether the juicer has multiple speeds. Good juicers generally do. This means that you can adjust the speed depending on what you are juicing. For example, low speeds are best for soft fruits and high speeds for firm vegetables.

There is also safety in buying a quality brand. The best juicer brand in this office is Omega, closely followed by Breville or a Jack Lalanne juicer, but many brands make top juicers.

Now that you have a better idea of what you are looking for in a juicer, read on for our best juicer reviews below.

Super Angel Pro Review

Rating: 4.5

Specifications:

  • Type: Triturating
  • RPM: 82
  • Ease of Cleaning: Average

The Super Angel Pro is the latest, top of the line Super Angel juicer product. It replaces the Super Angel 5500 Juicer which is widely regarded as one of the best juicing machines – It marginally missed out on this title on this site due to the fact that it is also one of the most expensive juicers which puts it out of reach of the majority of people. It is a triturating juicer that produces top quality juice.

This juicer is best suited to people who want the absolute best and are not scared off by the massive price tag.

Performance

The Super Angel Pro has all the same features as the Super Angel 5500 Juicer with the added bonus of a new automatic reverse feature. It also has a new motor, safety sensors and control board. It has a low 82RPM which helps maximise the quality of the juice produced by this machine.

The large juicing gears used inside the Super Angel Juicer are over 8 inches long and made of high quality FDA approved food grade stainless steel. These gears have been designed and manufactured for the best fruit and vegetable breakdown to give the highest possible amount of nutrients in the juice. This will also produce juices with a long shelf life.

Value

This juicer is priced at over $1000 making it an expensive option. However, it does produce premium juice and you will get a high amount of juice extracted from your produce making this perhaps the best juice extractor. For people who want a commercial juicer, the Angel Pro can offer great value.

Pros

  • Excellent quality juice
  • Relatively long shelf life of juice
  • Can juice just about anything
  • Maximum juice produced
  • Ten year warranty on motor and parts, 5 year warranty on wear and tear
  • Can also make nut butters, sorbets and other products

Cons

  • High price tag
  • Difficult to juice melons and citrus fruits.

Our Verdict

The Super Angel Pro is possibly the best juice extractor and produces high quality juice. It is one of the best rated juicers with top quality parts and manufacturing. Unfortunately, it also comes with a top quality price tag. If you love your juices and are not worried about price, then this could be a good pick for you.

Omega J8006 Nutrition Center Juicer Review

Rating: 4.5

Specifications:

  • Type: Masticating
  • RPM: 80
  • Ease of Cleaning: Easier

The Omega Juicer 8006 is a masticating juicer with an entry level price but premium level juicing. This may be the best slow juicer for the price tag and is one of the top rated juicers on the market.

This juicer is an excellent choice for people who know they want to produce the type of quality, nutrient filled juice that comes from a masticating or triturating juicer but do not have a huge amount of money to invest.

Performance

The performance of the Omega Juicer 8006 is superb. It features an operation speed of 80RPM which produces less foamy juice meaning it is of a high quality and longer shelf life (up to 72 hours). It uses a powerful screw to produce twice as much juice from greens than a regular centrifugal juicer. It is also an easy to clean juicer with the cleaning time being remarkably short for a masticating juicer.

The Omega 8006 Juicer can also be used to make other products such as nut butters. It also has an automatic pulp ejector.

Value

This Omega masticating juicer is generally priced below the $300 mark making it exceptional value for this type of juicer. It is good at producing a large quantity of nutritious juice from produce making this an incredibly good value juicer. It is easy to see why it is so popular.

Pros

  • Great price for a masticating juicer
  • Automatic pulp ejection
  • Easy to clean juicer
  • 15 year warranty – one of the best slow juicer 2023 warranties
  • Can also be used to make nut butters and other products including spaghetti

Cons

  • The entry chute is on the small size so fruit and vegetables need to be chopped before juicing
  • The collection cup for the juice is not large enough for 2 glasses, so you may have to empty it as you juice

Our Verdict

The Omega 8006 Juicer is the best low-cost, masticating juicer alternative. We highly recommend this for people who want a masticating juicer but can not afford more expensive options and are not bothered by chopping produce before juicing.

Breville BJS600XL Fountain Crush Masticating Slow Juicer Review

Rating: 4.0

Specifications:

  • Type: Masticating
  • RPM: 80
  • Ease of Cleaning: Average

The Breville BJS600XL Fountain Crush is a space saving, cheaper masticating juicer. This juicer is best for people who want a vertical, masticating juicer but can not afford the higher quality alternatives.

Performance

The Breville BJS600XL Fountain Crush has a nice slow operation speed of 80RPM. It is quiet and has a pulp ejector. It does a reasonable job of extracting juice from produce. However, there can be problems with the juicer clogging and jamming with harder produce or leafier greens where the string fibres can get trapped on the auger. The best way to avoid this is to cut up the fruit and vegetables into small pieces before use.

There are direction controls to help remove pulp from the auger. It is easy to assemble and dissemble.

Value

The Breville BJS600XL is a relatively cheap masticating juicer, although you get what you pay for. It produces more juice than most cheaper juicers.

Pros

  • Space saving
  • Reasonable price for a masticating juicer

Cons

  • Only 1 year warranty
  • Can easily be clogged and jammed
  • Slow to juice
  • Some parts are difficult to clean

Our Verdict

Our Breville BJS600XL review revealed to us a juicer that does the job reasonably well – if it wasn’t for the jamming. For this price, I would only recommend this juicer for people who want a cheaper masticating juicer that does not take up much space.

Big Boss 9192 Review

Rating: 4.0

Specifications:

  • Type: Centrifugal
  • RPM: N/A
  • Ease of Cleaning: Average

The Big Boss 9192 is a centrifugal juicer that distinguishes itself by being a slower model. This means that the juice that is extracted is higher quality. It has a good looking, compact design.

This Big Boss juicer is best for people who want a quality centrifugal juicer that provides better quality juice.

Performance

The relatively low speed of this centrifugal juicer is what distinguishes it from the pack. If juice quality is your focus, then this juicer delivers.

This juicer has a wide feeder tube making it easy to feed most fruit and vegetables straight in. It is a tall and narrow juicer making it easier to fit on your bench top.

Value

This Big Boss Juicer is a more expensive centrifugal juicer although cheaper than the Breville above. It does a good job of extracting juice from fruits and vegetables, although has problems with leafy greens.

Pros

  • Slower speed centrifugal juicer providing more quality juice
  • Decent amount of juice produced compared to other juicers in this category
  • Compact design

Cons

  • The boss juice extractor is a more expensive centrifugal juicer
  • Not as fast as other centrigual juicers

Our Verdict

Our Big Boss Juicer review revealed to us another quality centrifugal juicer option. For people who want a slower juicer, but with most of the speed and convenience and price tag of a centrifugal, this is a great option.

Black & Decker JE2200B 400-Watt Fruit and Vegetable Juice Extractor Review

Rating: 4.0

Specifications:

  • Type: Centrifugal
  • RPM: N/A
  • Ease of Cleaning: Average

The Black & Decker Juice Extractor is a cheap, entry level juicer that sufficiently juices most fruit and vegetables.

This juicer is a great choice for people looking for an ultra-budget juicer and is a top juicer for beginners who are unsure if juicing is something they want to do regularly.

Performance

This juicer has a powerful motor and will juice its way through standard fruit and vegetables. The juicer itself is made of plastic which can degrade over time from the stainless steel cutters.

The feed chute on the Black and Decker Juice Extractor is small so fruit and vegetables will need to be cut up before juicing.

Value

It is impossible to criticise the value of this juicer given its low price well under the $50 mark. The two year warranty also is great value. It does a good job of juicing most fruit and vegetables. It is nowhere near as efficient as more expensive juicers.

Pros

  • Very cheap
  • 2 year warranty
  • Fast
  • Parts are dishwasher safe

Cons

  • Small feed chute
  • Loud
  • Pulp spits out of feed chute if not covered
  • Not suitable for leafy greens
  • Small juice catcher
  • Does not efficiently extract the maximum juice from produce

Our Verdict

The Black & Decker Fruit and Vegetable Juice Extractor is a great choice for people who want to start with an ultra cheap option. It is a good juicer for beginners who worry that they will spend money on a juicer only to never use it. For the price, it is very good value.

Hamilton Beach Big Mouth Juice Extractor 67601A Review

Rating: 4.0

Specifications:

  • Type: Centrifugal
  • RPM: N/A
  • Ease of Cleaning: Easier

The Hamilton Beach Big Mouth Juicer is an economical, centrifugal juicer that makes fast work of standard fruit and vegetables.

This juicer is best for people who are budget concious but want something better than the Black & Decker above.

Performance

The Hamilton Beach Big Mouth Juicer is powerful and fast. This juicer has a great 3 inch feeding chute meaning most fruit and vegetables do not need much chopping before juicing. The pulp ejected from the juicer is still wet, meaning that it does not extract the maximum amount of juice from fruit and vegetables.

Value

At well under the $100 mark, this juicer is good value for an entry level juicer. It does not extract the maximum amount of juice from produce, but it is one of the top juices at this price.

Pros

  • Big, 3 inch feeding chute
  • Efficient for the price
  • Large pulp catcher
  • Can also be used to make soy, almond and rice milk

Cons

  • The cutter edge dulls quickly with regular use
  • Juicer needs to be cleaned after making a quart before you can progress
  • Pulp does end up in the juice

Our Verdict

This is an economical entry level juicer which is a step above the other juicers in this price range. It is a great option for people who are just starting their juicing journey.

Jack Lalanne Deluxe Power Juicer Review

Rating: 4.0

Specifications:

  • Type: Centrifugal
  • RPM: 3600
  • Ease of Cleaning: Easier

The next among top ten juicers is Jack Lalanne’s Power Juicer. This powerful and quiet juicer works on most fruit and vegetables and comes with an amazing lifetime warranty.

The Jack Lalanne Power Juicer is best suited to people who want a powerful, easy juicer with an economical price.

Performance

This juicer Lalanne is powerful and performs well on most fruit and vegetables, although it’s not going to give you the output that a masticating juicer does. It has a big feeding chute which makes preparation quick and easy. However, the draining hole for the juice does clog up easily and may need to be cleared often when juicing.

Value

The power juicer Jack Lalanne offers is a good value centrifugal juicer. It is not the most efficient juicer, but it is not bad for the price. It is powerful and the lifetime warranty adds to its appeal.

Pros

  • Quiet
  • Easy to assemble and dissemble
  • Large chute
  • Lifetime warranty
  • Parts are dishwasher safe

Cons

  • Draining hole clogs up easily
  • Only small glasses can fit under the juice spout
  • Chrome plating on the plastic parts can have issues in the dishwasher

Our Verdict

Jack Lalanne’s Power Juicer is a great mid level, centrifugal juicer option. It’s price around the $100 mark makes this a great option for people who want something more than the entry level juicers without having to spend much money. We think this is a solid choice although we do prefer the Breville BJE200XL reviewed above.

KOIOS Centrifugal Juicer Machine Review

Rating: 4.5

Specifications:

  • Type: Centrifugal
  • RPM: 18000
  • Ease of Cleaning: Easier

When it comes to the best juicer in the market, speed and yield quality are important considerations. The KOIOS Centrifugal Juicer combines both of these, with fast juicing and a particular good yield for a centrifugal juicer.

Performance

Like other centrifugal juicers, the KOIOS juicer works fast. There is a very large intake chute and juice is generally produced in under 2 minutes. There are two power settings and a pulse function, with the lower speed suitable for juicing juicier fruits (oranges, pears etc), and the faster one suitable for more hardy fruits vegetables (carrot, celery etc). Most importantly, it produces a great tasting juice. However, the remaining pulp can be a little juicy.

Value

This is neither the cheapest or most expensive centrifugal juicer out there. However, when you consider the yield quality in combination with it’s speed, it is one of the best economical juicer options.

Pros

  • Offers a good 3 year warranty
  • Easy to clean with included brush
  • Runs quietly on the lower speed setting

Cons

  • Only recommended to be run for 2 minutes at a time
  • Not good for fruits like banana

Our Verdict

This is a great centrifugal juicer if you need juice fast. It combines fast juicing with good yield quality. The biggest downside is that if you need juice for more than one person, you may need to run it at 2 minute intervals.

This machine is one to consider if you’re wondering which is the best juicer on the market at an affordable price. It is easy to use and does a good job at juicing hardier fruits and vegetables.

Performance

From the outside, this juicer is a little deceiving. It is quite compact, but this is a high power juicer capable of juicing hardy vegetables (and of course softer ones) very fast. While it is capable of these hardy jobs, it comes at some loss of nutrients which is the case for all centrifugal juicers. Jamming is relatively infrequent for softer jobs, but the machine can overheat relatively easy. It will automatically switch off if either of these occur.

Value

This is not an expensive machine and, with a powerful motor, it represents good value for people looking to purchase their first juicer. This is not the most efficient machine (pulp can be quite juicy), but it is affordable and easy to use.

Pros

  • Very simple to use
  • Sleek and relatively compact design
  • Juices a range of fruits and vegetables

Cons

  • Can be noisy depending on what you’re juicing
  • Remaining pulp can be quite juicy

Our Verdict

The biggest benefit of this machine is ease of use – you simply put your fruits and vegetables into the chute and switch it on 1 for low speed and 2 for high. While this may not be the number one juicer on the market, with some nutrient loss expected, it is a good entry level option.

Best Fruit Juicer

If you only plan to use your juicer to juice fruit, then there is less need to buy one of the more expensive masticating and triturating types. Although these types of juicers are the best juice extractors on the market when it comes to quality, most centrifugal juicers will have no problems juicing whatever fruit you want.

If you are happy with a centrifuging juicer for your fruit, then we would recommend the Breville BJE200XL Compact Juice Fountain reviewed above and in the Breville juicer comparison chart.

However, if you are just searching for the best citrus juicer or best orange juicer, then there is no need to buy a full juicer. A specialist citrus juicer may be the best option for you. We think the best citrus juicer is the Cuisinart Citrus Juicer. This is great value at less than $50 and is compact for easy storage.

The Cuisinart Citrus Juicer is designed for making quick and easy lemon, lime and orange juices. It is good at extracting the maximum amount of juice from the fruit. However, it can be tricky to clean.

For commercial use or people who are very serious about their citrus juice, a Breville Citrus Press is highly recommended. This quality citrus juicer is ultra easy to use, tough and looks great. It maximises the juice extracted from each fruit. A big glass of fresh juice can be extracted in less than a minute. There is an interchangeable filter which enables you to control the amount of pulp in the juice.
